CAVE OF THE FUTURE

Invites us to make a digital record of our days, leaving our handprint as a mark of our passage through this world and a message as a reflection.

It is a work generated dynamically by each person who wants to participate and generate an interactive and collaborative work. As in the past people left us the impressions of their hands in stone, we will record those of today in digital media as a legacy of this era for future generations.

Gente en una exposición mirando las proyecciones de manos

The work begins empty (only the projection of the cave wall), like a blank canvas. The images entered and edited gradually form a network of hands that cover the space. Each time the web of hands covers the “wall”, the work concludes and a new cave wall appears for “painting”. The finished works will be available on the website where Cave of the Future will reside as a legacy for generations to come.

The Underground Connection

This work is part of The Underground Connection project, which aims to promote the interaction of different stations around the world through art and technology.

Digital Archaeology / Guardian of the Future

With the aim of preserving information for future generations, the formalization of the “guardian of the future” figure is envisioned. This entity’s goal is to update technological platforms as science and technology progress, generating new formats. The guardian of the future will be comprised of various institutions such as universities and foundations that have shown endurance over time. The safeguarding of generated data will allow a kind of digital archaeology, ensuring access to the message left at the beginning of the third millennium.

manos proyectadas en una pared

Throughout history, humans have left their mark reflecting their passage through the world. Paintings, sculptures, constructions, and writings have defied the passage of time and have reached our era. The transcendent spirit drives us to undertake actions that surpass our own existence and project into the future.

Participants digitize their hands using a scanner located within the installation. The digitized image can be edited by the individual, altering the color, shape, and environment to further personalize the development of the artwork.

At this point, if desired, the individual will have the option to input data associated with the digitized image and a unique code.
